Cape Reserve’s Dylan Morton found his way to us amidst a global pandemic. After being laid off from his previous job due to COVID changes, Morton found a way to turn lemons into lemonade and channeled his energy into a career with us as an Account Manager. An inspiring leader and motivated teammate, Morton brings the perfect balance of aspirational and driven. We spoke with him about the skills that make him so great, where he was before Cape Reserve, and where he’s going.

“After high school, I went to college at Murray State University and studied Public Relations and Marketing. I really enjoyed my time there, met many great people, joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and held several offices. I figured out the direction I wanted to go with my career.”
What makes you a perfect fit for a job like this?
“I bring energy, leadership, motivation to others, and value. I am very competitive. I played basketball until high school; I also played music, specifically drums and guitar, since I was eleven. I have always wanted to be the best in everything I do and hold myself to a higher standard.”
Has your career mindset changed at all since joining Cape Reserve?
“It has grown drastically. I am more motivated than I have ever been. I am becoming the leader I want to be and learning how to manage people and a business. I want to keep growing and become my own business owner and an entrepreneur.”
What do you find to be challenging as an entrepreneur?
“Finding quick solutions to new problems that we face on a day-to-day basis. I’ve been pushing myself to think quicker on my feet.”
What are you passionate about?
“I am very passionate about my career, my relationships with my friends and family, my dog, music, and Kentucky basketball.”
How has your career been affected by the COVID-19 crisis?
“COVID-19 took my previous job from me, but it was a blessing in disguise because I found this opportunity that I am very grateful for and much more passionate about. I am looking forward to continuing to advance in this career and keep getting better every day. I love working with people, and I want to be able to help others grow and get the same opportunity that I have.”
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
“My goals. I have a vision for what I want out of life and the way I want to live. To get there, I have to wake up every day and be thankful and be ready to grind to reach my goals.”
What does the future hold for you?
“In 5 years, I see myself owning my own business, promoting out several other offices, helping the less fortunate, and growing into the person I know can be.”
What is your best piece of career advice?
“Set goals, create a vision for where you want to go and where you want to be, build and maintain relationships, and never lose focus of that no matter what it takes.”
What are you most proud of?
“My greatest accomplishment so far is getting a college degree. School never came easy to me, so I had to work extra hard to get there.”
For Dylan Morton, success is much more than a check. The young entrepreneur measures success by happiness and freedom. Happiness is key. “My dad always told me to do what makes me happy,” says Morton, “If you’re not happy doing what you’re doing, then don’t do it at all.” Here at Cape Reserve, one thing that makes us happy is working alongside Dylan Morton every day.
